ABOVE IT LINE DANCE VIRTUAL COMPETITION - FULL CONTEST RULES
OFFICIAL RULES
“ABOVE IT” DANCE COMPETITION
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
These Official Rules (“Official Rules”) govern the “Above It” Dance Competition (“Competition”). By submitting an Entry, each Group Representative and participating group member agrees to comply with these Official Rules and with the decisions of Wild Moon Country and the Competition judges, subject to applicable law.
1. SPONSOR
The Competition is sponsored by:
Wild Moon Country
960 Postal Way
PO Box 147
Vista, CA 92083
[CONTEST EMAIL ADDRESS]
(“Sponsor”).
The Competition is being conducted in connection with the promotion of the song and choreography associated with “Above It.”
2. ELIGIBILITY
The Competition is open only to groups consisting of two (2) to five (5) dancers.
Every dancer appearing as a member of the competing group must:
• be thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of entry; and
• be a legal resident of one of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia.
Solo Entries are not eligible.
No person under thirteen (13) years of age may participate as a member of a competing group.
Any group member who has not reached the age of majority in their state of residence must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate.
If a group containing one or more minors is selected as a potential winner, Sponsor may require the parent or legal guardian of each minor group member to verify eligibility and age, confirm permission to participate, execute eligibility, liability, publicity, and content-use releases, and provide other information reasonably necessary for winner verification.
Employees, contractors, Competition judges, and representatives of Sponsor directly involved in administering or judging the Competition, as well as members of their immediate households, are not eligible.
Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
3. GROUP REPRESENTATIVE
Each group must designate one (1) participating group member as its official Group Representative.
The Group Representative is responsible for submitting the Entry, providing required information, confirming acceptance of these Official Rules, confirming that all group members have authorized participation, receiving Competition communications, coordinating verification, and receiving the Grand Prize if the Entry wins.
If the Group Representative is a minor, Sponsor may require a parent or legal guardian to complete verification and receive the prize on the minor’s behalf.
4. PRE-COMPETITION JUDGE WEEK
From August 13, 2026 through August 19, 2026, Sponsor, the artists, and Competition judges may publish promotional content, tutorials, tips, ideas, commentary, examples, or insight regarding what judges will be looking for.
This period is promotional only and is not part of the official Competition Period.
Prospective contestants are encouraged to follow the judges during Prep Week for Competition tips and insights:

Solo Entries and Entries containing fewer than two (2) or more than five (5) competing dancers are not eligible.
Sponsor may establish reasonable technical requirements concerning video length, file type, file size, orientation, resolution, submission links, or similar specifications.
8. SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOT THE ENTRY PLATFORM
Official Competition Entries are submitted through the Competition website.
Instagram and other platforms may be used to promote the Competition, introduce judges, publish tips, feature contestants, share videos, repost Entries, or promote “Above It.”
Social-media likes, views, comments, shares, saves, reposts, follower counts, or account popularity will not affect eligibility or judging.
9. ENTRY CONTENT REQUIREMENTS
Each Entry must:
• contain two (2) to five (5) eligible competing dancers;
• feature the designated “Above It” choreography sufficiently for judges to evaluate the performance;
• be submitted by the Group Representative;
• be created by the group or submitted with authorization from the video’s creator;
• comply with applicable laws;
• comply with the technical requirements stated on the Competition website;
• not unlawfully infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other rights;
• not contain unlawful, threatening, discriminatory, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate material;
• not falsely impersonate another person; and
• comply with these Official Rules.
Sponsor may disqualify an Entry reasonably determined not to comply with these requirements.
10. GROUP MEMBER PERMISSIONS
By submitting an Entry, the Group Representative represents and warrants that every participating group member has authorized their participation, submission of the video, judging of the video, display of the video, reposting or resharing of the video, and the promotional uses authorized by these Official Rules.
For any participant who is a minor, the Group Representative represents and warrants that the participant’s parent or legal guardian has authorized participation and permitted use of the Entry.
Sponsor may request written evidence of permission before awarding the Grand Prize or making promotional use of an Entry.
11. JUDGING
This is a skill-based Competition.
The winner will be determined by the Competition judging panel and will not be determined by chance, random drawing, follower count, social-media popularity, or public voting.
Eligible Entries will be scored according to the following criteria:
CHOREOGRAPHY — 50%
The first wall of the dance must match the designated choreography.
Judges will evaluate:
• choreography accuracy;
• timing;
• crispness;
• synchronization and step unison among group members.
Following the first wall, judges may also award credit for styling, individuality, and how effectively each dancer and the group bring their own personality to the choreography.
SHOWMANSHIP — 35%
Judges will evaluate the overall performance and presentation of the group, including:
• wardrobe;
• enthusiasm;
• energy;
• performance presence;
• creativity;
• personality; and
• overall “stage” presence within the video.
The “Above It” dance is genre-blending and intentionally open to interpretation. Groups are encouraged to complement the choreography with their own style and creative choices.
PRODUCTION QUALITY — 15%
Judges will evaluate the overall video and audio production quality of the Entry, including:
• lighting;
• framing;
• visibility of all dancers;
• background/environment;
• absence of distracting elements;
• video clarity; and
• audio quality.
Contestants are encouraged to film in a well-lit environment with a clean or visually appropriate background and to use the official song audio rather than relying solely on audio captured by a camera microphone where reasonably possible.
The eligible Entry receiving the highest combined weighted score will be designated the potential Grand Prize winner, subject to eligibility verification.
12. TIE-BREAKING
If two or more Entries receive the same highest combined score, the Entry with the higher Choreography score will be ranked higher.
If a tie remains, the Entry with the higher Showmanship score will be ranked higher.
If a tie still remains, the judges will conduct an additional evaluation of the tied Entries using the same three published judging criteria.
No tie will be resolved by random selection.
13. JUDGES
The Competition judges are:
@TwirlyTess
@Wild_Moon_Country
@Katie_Can_Linedance
Sponsor may replace a judge who becomes unavailable due to illness, emergency, scheduling conflict, technical issue, or other reasonable circumstances.
Any replacement judge must evaluate Entries according to the same published criteria.
Judges may publish tips, commentary, examples, reactions, educational content, or general statements about what they value in a performance.
Such content is informational and does not modify these Official Rules or the published scoring criteria.
14. FEATURED ENTRIES, REPOSTING, AND RESHARING
Sponsor, the Competition judges, the artists, and their authorized representatives may feature, repost, reshare, react to, comment on, or otherwise display selected Entries in connection with the Competition and promotion of “Above It.”
This specifically includes use by:
Competition Judges
@TwirlyTess
@Wild_Moon_Country
@Katie_Can_Linedance
Artists
@AndyMineo
@WordsPlayed
Permitted uses may include Instagram Stories, Reels, feed posts, compilations, reaction content, Competition highlights, promotional recaps, and related social-media content.
Entries may be cropped, resized, captioned, subtitled, reformatted, excerpted, or combined with Competition graphics or branding as reasonably necessary for presentation.
A repost, reshare, reaction, comment, or feature by a judge or artist:
• does not mean an Entry is a finalist;
• does not mean an Entry is leading the Competition;
• does not create additional judging credit;
• does not guarantee a higher score; and
• has no effect on final Competition scoring.
15. GRAND PRIZE
One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded.
GRAND PRIZE:
$1,000 USD CASH
Approximate Retail Value: $1,000 USD.
The $1,000 Grand Prize is awarded per winning group Entry, not per dancer.
Sponsor may pay the prize through Venmo or another electronic payment method selected or approved by Sponsor.
Unless Sponsor determines otherwise, payment will be made to the winning group’s designated Group Representative.
If the Group Representative is a minor, Sponsor may issue payment to the Group Representative’s parent or legal guardian.
Sponsor is not responsible for dividing or allocating prize funds among group members.
Any agreement concerning division of the prize is solely the responsibility of the winning group.
16. TAXES
The recipient of the Grand Prize is responsible for any applicable federal, state, local, or other taxes arising from receipt of the prize.
Sponsor may request information reasonably necessary to comply with applicable tax-reporting obligations.
17. WINNER NOTIFICATION
The potential winning group will be contacted using the contact information submitted by its Group Representative.
Notification may be made by email, telephone, social-media direct message, or another reasonable method.
The Group Representative may be required to respond within seventy-two (72) hours after initial notification.
If the potential winning group cannot be contacted, fails to respond, is ineligible, fails to comply with these rules, fails to provide required documentation, or declines the prize, Sponsor may disqualify the Entry and designate the next highest-scoring eligible Entry as the potential winner.
18. WINNER VERIFICATION
Before the winning Entry is officially declared the winner, Sponsor may require participating members to provide:
• legal names;
• contact information;
• proof of age;
• proof of U.S. or D.C. residency;
• eligibility declarations;
• liability releases;
• publicity/content-use releases;
• parent or guardian authorization where applicable;
• proof of group-member permissions;
• payment information; and
• tax information where legally required.
The potential winning group is not the official winner until verification has been completed.
19. OWNERSHIP OF ENTRIES
Participating group members retain ownership of their original video content, subject to any third-party rights in music, choreography, artwork, trademarks, sound recordings, or other incorporated material.
Submitting an Entry does not transfer ownership of the group’s original video to Wild Moon Country, the judges, Andy Mineo, or Wordsplayed.
20. LICENSE TO USE ENTRIES
By submitting an Entry, participating group members grant Wild Moon Country, @AndyMineo, @WordsPlayed, @TwirlyTess, @Wild_Moon_Country, @Katie_Can_Linedance, and their respective authorized representatives, social-media managers, agencies, licensees, and promotional partners a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the Entry in connection with:
• administering and judging the Competition;

No additional compensation is owed for uses expressly authorized under these Official Rules.
This license does not transfer ownership of the Entry and does not authorize use of the Entry to advertise unrelated third-party products or services without additional permission.
21. MUSIC, CHOREOGRAPHY, AND OTHER INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Participation in the Competition does not transfer ownership of the “Above It” sound recording, musical composition, Artist or Sponsor trademarks, logos, artwork, choreography, or other intellectual property belonging to the applicable rights holders.
Any permission to use Competition-related music, choreography, or branding is limited to participation in and promotion of the Competition as authorized by the applicable rights holders.
Participants remain responsible for complying with the terms of any social-media platform on which they independently publish their Entry.
22. SOCIAL-MEDIA DISCLOSURE
If participating groups publicly post content in connection with the opportunity to win the Grand Prize, Sponsor may require use of:
#AboveItLineDanceCompetition

26. CHANGES, SUSPENSION, OR CANCELLATION
Sponsor reserves the right to suspend, modify, postpone, or cancel the Competition if fraud, technical failure, platform outages, legal requirements, force majeure, or circumstances outside Sponsor’s reasonable control materially impair fair or lawful administration.
Sponsor will not materially change the scoring criteria after Entries have been submitted in a manner designed to favor or disadvantage a particular Entry.
27. RELEASE AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, participating group members agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, the Competition judges, artists, and their authorized representatives from claims arising directly from participation in the Competition, acceptance or use of the prize, authorized use of an Entry, technical failures outside Sponsor’s reasonable control, or a participant’s breach of these Official Rules.
